Authentic Edo period original, c.1830, Japanese erotic art shunga surimono (privately commissioned, high-quality print) woodblock print picture by an artist of the UTAGAWA School. 
 
Shunga picture measures 9 cm x 13 cm.  Very good colors and impressions.  Nice embossing, as well as some deluxe printing techniques such as mica (metallic pigments) and gauffrage (a milder and more subtle type of embossing).
 
Good condition with some light wear and soiling, wormage to the right of the picture.  No backing, aside from minimal strips along the sides of the picture.  Please see and judge from photos.
 
A beautifully delicate Edo-period shunga scene depicting an elegantly coiffed Japanese beauty sharing a tender and intimate moment with her lover.  Their close embrace and subdued expressions lend the composition an unusually gentle quality, while the open books, decorative vessel and richly patterned robes create a wonderfully detailed domestic setting.
