A Rare & Authentic Edo period original, c.1857, Japanese erotic art shunga woodblock print picture book in virtually mint condition with beautiful, DELUXE shunga artwork by Koikawa Shozan (1821-1907).
 
The book measures 18 cm x 12 cm closed and has 11 total pages of exceptional shunga artwork.  The remaining pages are kanji text pages.  The condition is virtually flawless, aside from a couple of pages having one small wormhole each.  Please see and judge from the photos provided.  It's very hard to come by Edo Period books in such amazing shape these days! 
 
As for the artwork, the colors are vivid and sharp, while the impressions are, indeed, perfect!  There are also numerous deluxe shunga artwork techniques used including mica (metallic pigments), gauffrage (a soft type of embossing), and urushi-e (black laquer).
 
This is a must-have antique shunga book for anyone looking to add a beautiful gem to his/her showy repertoire!
