Rare - Hokusai School Shunga - Gorgeous Kimonos
Authentic Meiji period , c.1900 Japanese erotic art shunga woodblock print picture by Hokusai-School artist, Yanagawa Shigenobu (1787-1833). Shigenobu was arguably the student whose artwork most resembled his esteemed master, Katsushika Hokusai. He also happened to be Hokusai's son-in-law. This is an authentic Meiji Period re-strike woodblock print picture from his shunga series, Yanagi no arashi (originally published in late 1820s).
Shunga picture measures 24.5 cm x 36 cm. Great colors and impressions! Nice silver mica (metallic silver pigments) on kimonos, as well. Good condition with some wear and soiling. No backing. Please refer to photos.
Another fantastic Hokusai-School shunga picture from this remarkable series!
