Kitsune Spirits and Kabuki Heroine Yaegakihime draws from Edo-period folklore and classic stage legends, where fox spirits (kitsune) often acted as divine messengers and protectors. 
 
The composition portrays Yaegakihime — a legendary Kabuki heroine celebrated for courage, devotion, and mystical grace — accompanied by ethereal white foxes that emerge from the folds of her lavish kimono.  Her expression is serene yet powerful, framed by elaborate hair ornaments and the spectral presence of the fox guardians who blur the line between the mortal and spiritual worlds.
 
Senju’s mastery lies in the balance of restraint and opulence: the deep autumnal palette of reds, golds, and greens contrasts with the luminous pallor of the foxes, evoking both elegance and otherworldly calm.  The new edition enhances color richness, line precision, and contrast, heightening the texture of the patterned robes and the glint of divine energy within the scene.
