From Senju’s celebrated 36 Views of Mount Fuji – Shunga Reimagined series, Tatsudoshi (Year of the Dragon) merges primal strength with quiet tenderness — a hallmark of the artist’s modern take on Japan’s erotic tradition.
 
The scene unfolds with a tattooed lover, his back emblazoned with a coiled dragon, embracing his partner in a moment of consuming passion.  The mythical beast seems to breathe with the man himself, its scales and spirals echoing the waves of desire and power beneath the surface.  At their side lies a small ukiyo-e print — a nod to the lineage of Edo-period shunga that inspires Senju’s work.
